I was a little unfair. Sesame Street had good writing.

The Muppet Show though, wow!

(I like the Muppets, actually. The old show wasn't bad, so much as uneven and willing to make a joke of its own weaknesses. Even more recently, a lot of their bits are weak, and they know it. They soften it by playing it like they're bad actors with poor scripts, and then have Statler & Waldorf mock their efforts. That's part of the joke.)

Dang, who knew Muppets were such serious business!
