For so many years I always believed that the creators were on the right side of history, they adopted much the same progrssive morals as me, and even when they were politically insensitive, I knew they were ultimatly good people.

Then this whole "PC Brah" thing has hit, and I just can't justify supporting the show any more. What are your thoughts?

They've always been exactly the cultural libertarians they are now.

Oh, I feel you. I can totally understand the heartbreak when a creator's moral values don't mirror mine down to the finest minutiae. I truly hate it when people dare to express themselves in a way that conflicts with my worldview, it makes me feel threatened and light-headed.

They're saying that wanting to support non-cishet non-white non-male people is the same as being a douchbag fratguy bully. This is not ok. This isn't just a disagreeing opinions. this is Klan levels of hate and it IS NOT OK.

In an episode that features Garrison violently raping the Canadian president to death, the fratboy bully comparison is what bothers you. Okay...

Oh, so in other words, you didn't watch it either and just wanted to complain about something. Got it.

The whole premise of a kid casually and comically dying in every episode has made me refuse to ever watch this show, no matter how good and "progressive" people tell me it is. so, meh.

Progressive? It's a fucking joke. He comes back to life.

I guess I don't see anything funny about making a joke out of kids dying. I hate cartoon death violence played for laughs. I find it creepy and disturbing.

They don't actually kill Kenny off very often anymore. Back in the early, rawer days of the show it was a weekly gag, but they once killed him off for a year then brought him back with zero explanation save "he was just offscreen the whole time" and then have used the gag very rarely.

I know you probably don't care (don't blame you), but the joke was actually given reasoning further down the line. It's a curse, and he can never truly die. He'll just wake up the next morning like nothing happened. He'll remember he died, but no one else does.

His mouth is muffled and he must scream.

This made me laugh so hard.

This always happens at some point -- someone makes a big deal about how the show is really funny and they agree with the messages the show is pushing, until that ONE episode they don't like and all of a sudden it's the worst show ever. It's pretty hilarious. It's like Isaac Hayes all over again.

South Park hasn't changed. It's still the same message. The thing about the PC Bro thing is that it isn't attacking SJWs specifically, though it seems like that for most of the episode. What it ends up actually being about is a response to everyone who condemned "The Cissy" but have clearly never actually seen it.

South Park has traditionally used offensive imagery to get a point across about why it's offensive. Some people don't really get that, which is okay!

[ETA] Also want to point out that at the end of the episode, the PC Bros tone themselves down. As of the 2nd episode, PC Principal has remained on the show (and gets into it Garrison for a really good reason), and Randy is still in the group -- which says a lot about how Matt and Trey actually feel about what the PC Bros are saying. It's just the methodology that was meant to be the joke (I mean come on, beating up a little kid for saying "capische?" That's pretty much a very tumblr style of overreaction.)

Your view of people and morals is really skewed. Maybe they share some of your politics and still have values you disagree with. That's not how "good people" work since it's not a static thing and you will never fully agree with anyone. That said, South Park writers have always been kinda edgy so I don't know how you didn't see it before/
