How do you pimp your fandoms? You encourage people to vote for them?

Not that I know of. It's an exchange so you nominate the fandoms you want, then everyone picks 3 fandoms they'd like to receive a fic from and 4 fandoms they could write a fic in, and they're matched according to fandoms.

But your tiny fandom won't get written if no one knows about it and offers to write it, so it's good to draw attention to it so others will look for it. The number of fandoms nominated at Yuletide if HUGE. It's easy to get overlooked.

OHHHHHHH. OOOOOHH. I thought like you nominate your fandom, they make a big list, they vote on fandoms, and then like the top 10 get picked to be written about.

The basis of the Yuletide exchange is that it's a small-fandom exchange. If they did do a top ten, then the super tiny fandoms would never get written. BUT, as it is, there are always fics for really obscure fandoms every year! It's pretty great for that.
