Over the last decades, an increasing effort from both academia and industry has gone into the development of sex robots – that is, machines in the form of women or children for use as sex objects, substitutes for human partners or prostituted persons. The Campaign Against Sex Robots highlights that these kinds of robots are potentially harmful and will contribute to inequalities in society. We believe that an organized approach against the development of sex robots is necessary in response the numerous articles and campaigns that now promote their development without critically examining their potentially detrimental effect on society. As humanoid robots become more widespread it is necessary to develop an engaged ethical response to the development of these new technologies.

The Next Steps

Our goals over the coming year will be to:

Welcome new members to join our campaign and join in on the discussion.
To encourage computer scientists and roboticists to examine their own conscience when asked to provide code, hardware or ideas to develop this field.

To build alliances with campaigns against the sexual exploitation of humans.

To create a new and alternative voice to highlight the dangers of producing sex robots and the ideas behind them and how their production will impact on the real lives of women and children and men.

Yeah, this. My writer friend is a big proponent of AIs and she's very much against the concept of creating AIs for sex work. I have to say I agree with her.

Are we talking about robots for sex work, or are we talking about AIs in robots for sex work

I would think this is weird, but there are actual guys on 4chan who think 'fat feminists' are trying to stop sex robots from being made because they'll replace them. It's amusing from either side.

Er, by that logic, fat feminists won't have to deal with men either because they'll all be having hot robot sex with hot robot boyfriends. Or is there some reason why all sexbots would have to look female? (And no lesbian or gay robot romances? Why not?) Eh. Maybe people won't have as much reason to treat each other like sex objects if they all have their own personal sex object-robots.

I love how they say "it's going to change things for everyone and create inequalities" but they refuse to say why.

Once sexbots are out there will be a bunch of research made on sexbots' owners sexual life and habits anyway. THEN maybe we can start discussing it.

Are they anti-fleshlight, too? There might be robots soon we can have sex with, but it'll be some time before anyone makes a robot that can replace having a pleasant chat with your loved one at the dinner table.

Meh. I'm all for sex robots. But why only humany looking lady bots and kid bots being mentioned there, science? Especially if they can look inhuman like this:

This reads like you are trying to control everyone Else's sex habits. Your own are of course perfect.

I can't believe I live in an era where this is an actual thing people are actually concerned about.
