Most-to-all men WILL hook up with someone they're just above physically repulsed by, it's true. HOWEVER, unless it's the end of the night, a lot of them will try and get the best they can

So unless I'm reading this wrong, you seem to be implying that this is NOT true of women. Is that a correct reading?

I think women will do the same. But I DO think that in the end, men are sort of bred to believe that no matter how lazy they are about their looks, they all deserve a hot girl. And we (women) have probably internalized some of this belief because we constantly look past a guy's physical shortcomings because he's funny or sweet or smart. which is fine and good! But I DO think it's much rarer to see a legitimately hot guy with a legitimately ugly girl.

It's actually pretty simple.

In general a woman who has sex with men is going to be more worried about being raped or otherwise assaulted than a guy looking for women. So we have to be a lot more choosy.

However, the sample is often skewed by the fact that there are plenty of women in the bar who aren't there to hook up with random guys and are going to turn men hitting on them down no matter what because they're just here to hang out with their friends.

My question was more about the "try to get the best they can" part of the quote and whether anon thought that behavior was different for women, not the "end of the night" part of the quote.

Not to mention that some women have to worry about pregnancy.

In a bar situation, if you can get pregnant and are going there with the intention to hook up, odds are (hopefully) that you have a birth control plan or are carrying contraception. And, again hopefully, men who also are there with a hope to hook up carry condoms.
In other situations, i.e. the situation that often happens wherein a man will try to engage a woman with the hopes to hook up randomly, when she is not in a place where she came with that intention, doesn't have a birth control situation, etc...

I totally hooked up with the unhappily married hooknosed algerian best friend of the younger and hot black dude I had set my eyes on. I was primarily out to get revenge on my then-girlfriend... I'm not proud of it, but yeah, women do that.
