sorry for doubting you all (also why does it suck)

also why does it suck

It's basically a show whose fundamental design conspires to encourage all of the Moff's worst tendencies.

I mean, I feel like the first episode is one of the best in the series, compared to dreck like The Blind Banker and infuriating bullshit like A Scandal In Belgravia.

And yeah, while I think the idea of queerbaiting is overused, Sherlock is definitely a place where there's a point to be made

yeah, I think sherlock is one of the few cases where queer baiting can genuinely be argued and not have it be a huge stretch (not just because of the way it's done in canon, but the way that the creators talk about john and sherlock)

I only watched the first ep. I thought it sucked because Sherlock wasn't smart, it was the police that was incredibly stupid. Didn't help that the "taxi driver is the killer and uses his profession to find targets" was used in another show I had watched before. Sherlock is also a big asshole so it's hard to be as admirative of him as the cast is.

what happens when men with experience in fandom and obsession with gender politics from a fanboy perspective make the show they've always wanted.

See, if you had said this about later episodes, I'd believe you, but after the first, I think you're just jumping on the rage train to be with the party. Because the first time seriously just an incorrect assumption treated as a valid choice.

Which I think was refreshing. Straight people will always exist and I'd much rather see a world where tbe possibility of gayness is treated as normal, even if its wrong. But in subsequent episodes Watson does get too flustered over it. Which I'd get in real life, but in fiction it does become queerbaiting.

If you thought the first series sucked, I have bad news about series 2 and 3...
