I have a feeling it'll happen eventually. Especially if fandom makes noise about it because that can sometimes help.

It may take a long time/happen when we're on a newer nintendo portable but I swear the day will come.

I've heard people theorizing that they might do that for the game's 20th anniversary in 2016. I'm not sure if they'd want to pull another remake so soon after ORAS? But I'm with you, I'd be all over Kanto remakes. Or some sort of quasi-Kanto/Johto mixup. I love the size of those two regions combined.
