If they act crazy about it, I don't blame you. Then again, you'd have to define "criticizing" for context.

Who is/are their fave(s) who they so ardently defend? What's the criticism they don't like, and how do they react? *chinhands*

A+ choice of image, there.

Though, in their defense and depending on how exactly this reaction is expressed and when, they might not actually react this way to other types of criticism. I know that I sometimes channel my more "fanatic" tendencies into fandom, where it doesn't hurt anybody.
