Weirdly I don't feel the same way about long-running comics, because they tend to reboot so often and have so many standalone storylines. Like, a 12-issue Batman spin-off is way less intimidating to me than a TV show with a gazillion episodes.

Cannibalism, though... yeah, I just can't deal with any media revolving around it. There are very few things I find truly squicky, and that's one of them.

It certainly can be a hassle, even with all the numerous resources like wikis and comics forums and whatnot. I don't even want to think about how hard it must've been to get into Marvel/DC type comics pre-internet era.

Wanted to clarify; in the above comment I'm referring specifically to long-running superhero comics, as opposed to long-running indie comics or manga that have a single continuous story going on for 20+ volumes.
