Re: How much do separate irl and fandom?

Depends on who I'm around. I'll admit to coworkers and such that I play video games or that, to keep up with the kids, watch Steven Universe or something. If they ask for further information I'll tell them why I think it's good or I like it but I tend not to go into too much detail unless I know they are in the know as well.

With family I'll let them know there are online activities such as discussion, art, and reading/writing I participate in. They're not really into it but they know I have fun.

My friends are as big of geeks as I am so they know everything. These are the only people, for example, who know I'm a genie here. Try explaining that to any other group. They'll look at you like you're crazy.

So yeah, I hide my powerlevel pretty well. Well enough, at least, that many people not in my circle feel the need to explain fandom things to me all the time.
