Re: How much do separate irl and fandom?

not much really but I also know the concept of "there is a time and place for everything."

my entire wardrobe is fandom-related t-shirts, I have character pins on one of my jackets, and have fandom keychains. My car has a fandom sticker on it. I actually work in a fandom context so coworkers aren't an issue, but average civilians in public are a thing I deal with all the time. I don't talk about fandom shit to the nice clerks at the post office or the person behind me in the grocery store checkout line. I don't discuss my roleplaying adventures or the fic I'm writing with anyone who isn't also in fandom (in those specific fandoms). I don't even talk about my cosplaying in public unless it's in the context of promoting a non-profit organization that relates to it. And if I must, I sure as hell don't assume the other party understands unless I frame it in such a way as to make sense to the uninformed.

+1 same here

I don't hide it but I don't spring it unexpected on people either, because I sure would be weirded out if someone randomly started talking to me about tax law, why wouldn't they be weirded out if I suddenly started talking about DW RP?
