You'll probably be in a good spot for the next one in January 2018.

It sounds like there will be no total lunar eclipses for two full years after this one, then three in a year's time, then two more years before the next.

We had one earlier this year though, so not completely left out.

Or maybe that was just a red moon. I forget.

Yeah we did have one, at the start of the year I think. They're a lot more common than solar eclipses.

Well, anywhere you are, you can see only about half of them (barring clouds). So, that's about one every two years?

Edit: Oh, we're at "full eclipse" now, supposedly, but it looks there's a patch of the moon that is still pretty light, south of the shadow.

I forgot to bring a blanket, does that count? It's frickin' COLD out, and I was still dressed for the sun from earlier.

And crackpot neighbours. One was trying to convince us the aliens would use the dark to sneak up on us. I'm not sure if he was trolling or not.
