http://elaminator.tumblr.com/post/129723871200 That line about “The last president of the United States" feels a touch too real. This is how the apocalypse begins.

Someone from elsewhere adopt me.

I think it's time to say "time to move to Canada". The only think stopping me would be the cold :(

I love how people said "time to move to Canada!" when the ACA passed and when the SCOTUS ruling on marriage equality passed...but I actually know what I'm talking about when it comes to Canada! Sort of.

But really, as disillusioned as I've become with the way our nation works...part of me really just wants to keep trying to make it better.

Yeah, that amused me quite a bit, too. I've never even BEEN to Canada, but from what I know about that country and its politics, I was just like, "...uh..." whenever I heard people say that in the situations you mentioned.

JSYK, not all of Canada is hellishly cold! BC has mild winters. I've never lived there myself, but everyone I know who has lived there says that it's usually fairly warm all year around.

If you're seriously considering moving to Canada but hate cold weather, my advice is to go to BC if you can, and to avoid the prairie provinces. (I live in the prairies, and let me tell you, it gets REALLY frickin' cold here. Like, on a bad day, you can stand outside for less than a minute and feel the insides of your nostrils start to freeze. Not exaggerating.)

...ok, let me back up and clarify that to me "hellishly cold" means "colder than Indiana", because that's where I currently live and it's too cold for me here. Yes, even including that we get hot summers.

To put it another way, I would be entirely comfortable living the rest of my life in Costa Rica. I'm basically a lizard, wear long sleeves in 70F (or have goosebumps if I don't), am comfortable at 80F, and am utterly miserable when other people are basically "a bit chilly". :/

I had originally commented "Someone from Canada adopt me" then I realized I hadn't heard much about Canadian politics recently so I half expected someone to come and tell me, "But shit is going down in Canada right now". lol.

I love how people said "time to move to Canada!" when the ACA passed and when the SCOTUS ruling on marriage equality passed

I laughed joyfully every-time I saw those comments.

But Canada has a lot going for it, including gay marriage and their health care system! It seems like a great place to live.
