If someone ACTUALLY said to me, "I like him because he has the guts to say what we're all thinking," I think I'd be sort of horrified. Because the stuff he says is vile. Are you REALLY thinking that all Mexican immigrants are murderers and rapists, person-with-whom-I-am-conversing? Are you really thinking you'd date your daughter if she wasn't related to you? Are you really thinking all the other inane shit that comes out of his mouth? REALLY?

Sadly, there are people who legitimately believe this to be true. Or at least, they think it's true of most Mexican immigrants. I've lived in quite a few areas where the biggest minority presence were Mexicans. The racism wasn't exactly "in your face" among white people in those towns a lot of the time, but it sure as hell was there in some form or another.

My father was one of the people who said it to me. :( I was like...Dad, wtf. To his credit, he went on to say that Trump's a jerk and an idiot, but still.

It is scary, though -- not just to know that the person who's said it agrees with such things, but also to know that they actually think those are normal and popular things to think.
