Wait, so is this secret saying that if you are a guy who likes fanfiction, you're trans?

...Is this a common belief? Because I've never heard of it before

no the secret is saying women who think men who like fic must secretly be trans are like men who think women on the internet must secretly be men

women who think men who like fic must secretly be trans are not common, but they exist

I've never heard of that either, but...wow. I don't get it.

IA with OP, that's a weird assumption to make.

It is an odd, confusing secret, isn't it

Well the secret-maker seems to be saying that they don't agree with jumping to those conclusions either, but somehow I always avoid this kind of shit. I don't know how...maybe I just follow the right people.

And what does that have to do with fandom as a whole?

(Anonymous) 2015-09-30 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, ALL fandom guys I met IRL (couple of dozens) happen to be trans guys/girls who thought than they were trans guys at that moment/girls who roleplayed guys. I think it's not a belief it's statistics at this point.

That's not statistics. Other people on this thread have met guys in fandom who are cis. I know some fannish men who are trans, but the vast majority of the fannish guys I know are cis.

I suspect what fandoms you are in makes a difference and I'm not surprised there are fandoms that are very transmen-heavy, but it's definitely not true throughout all fandoms everywhere.
