(Anonymous) 2015-09-30 04:24 am (UTC)(link)I remember my Naruto fandom days ships like NaruHina, NaruSaku, and ShikaTema have a rather large amount of male fanfic writers. Of course I saw this all on fanfic.net.
Other ships that have a lot of male writers/fans are Eren x Mikasa from SnK and Natsu x Lucy from Fairy Tail. Notice a pattern? This is the type of ship male fans are attracted to.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-30 04:26 am (UTC)(link)They usually just stick to main guy x main girl for some reason.
Female shippers tend to be a lot more flexible. Not only do they ship m/m and f/f, but they will ship rare pairs and crack ships as well.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-30 04:37 am (UTC)(link)(Actually, that's unfair, since it's possible that there are some decent f/f writers who are male and I just can't tell. But a lot of the ones on AO3 that identify themselves as male are real, real bad)
