If I recall Fire Emblem Awakening has something like this. You can put in your birthday as the Avatar's and on that day you get a birthday message and presents. It's nice.

Or am I thinking of some other game?

I haven't played Fire Emblem: Awakening but that sounds like a lot of fun! I might have to look a vid up on youtube.
