Image: Two pictures of the video game character Rayne, from Bloodrayne. The left picture is labeled "Game 1" and the right is labeled "Game 2".

Text: I always preferred the first Bloodrayne game over the second, especially when it came to Rayne's outfit/design. It just looked so much clunkier and uglier with the "improved" graphics.

I feel like I got this backwards, somehow.

Well, it's not such a great outfit anyway....

I think your opinion is justifiable.

Well, her boobs look more comically large in the second picture.

It's the whole package, really. The outfit is shorter (hence why her boobs look bigger), her hair looks faker (the first one looks like something you might see in real life), and it's all just too shiny. The first look is relatively streamlined, but the second is a mess.

I hadn't noticed that the straps on her top were thinner until you made your comment, actually. Thanks for helping me pinpoint my exact problems with it!

Anytime.

That actually looks like the type of outfit I might've drawn for an original character back when I was fourteen.

They don't look too different to me (the outfits, that is) but there are differences. And I'll agree that the hair looks clunky in the second picture.

I don't see how it's backwards; you're allowed your opinion.

No, I actually agree. There was a weird period in the early to mid 2000s when everything started looking like someone fucked a cat over a keyboard while Poser was open. The earlier period of graphics -- the PS1 and early PS2 era -- didn't strike the uncanny valley half as much.

The only differences I see are bigger boobs, darker skin, shittier haircut, and most shit on her arms. Four things. I don't know if I like either, though. Both hit my, "this seems to not be for me" button.

She was a horrible misogynistic character design from the ground up, there's nothing to like in either of these games.

don't know the game but ia with you, her torso in the second one is like 8 feet long wtf
