Oh! I saw one of these yesterday! It was OK!

I'm enjoying the new series so far. It's freaking hilarious seeing the comments from people who decry the new series as "dirty" or "rude", imo. Some folks do NOT remember the Muppets. They probably remember Sesame Street.

Making Piggy the star of the "show within the show" makes sense, imo. She was always kind of the breakout character, the one who got the most recognition other than Kermit. No one does variety shows anymore, like the ones the Muppet Show parodied, so moving to a 'talk show' format is also pretty much in keeping with the times, as in the 'reality show' that they're also managing to wedge in there.

Overall I like it. I think some of the dialog,(especially Kermit) is a little mean. But it also gets a laugh out of me every few minutes, so *Kermitflail*

I've seen a few gifsets from this that make me think I should give it a watch (despite the fact that I'm already following too much television; it looks pretty funny and entertaining).

Think of it like this: fast forward through commercials and it's only 22 minutes more a week of TV!

Replying to this way too late for you to see it, but I'm considering it!

I honestly think the muppets sound the same as they did when I was a kid

I think the humor is a wee bit edgier, but not excessively so. It's only fitting really, because television in general has gotten edgier.

Well, when were you a kid?

Jim Henson died in 1990 and Kermit hasn't sounded the same to me since (also Rowlf and Ernie).

"Luckily" Steve was taught by Henson himself. I don't even want to think what will happen when Steve is gone. That's too many levels removed for my liking.

Miss Piggy and Fozzie don't sound right to me ever since Frank Oz stopped voicing them. :(

I was born in 1992 and the last Muppets movie I watched was the Treasure Island one. :P Not sure why I mentioned that latter part. For reference, I guess.

It's like 30 Rock starring the Muppets.

I think it's also that you could get away with that kind of comic dynamic in the 1980s.

It has funny moments but there's just something missing. The Muppets should have a spirit of fun and cheer, and never be afraid to be silly. It all feels ooc to me.

What I really hate are the Fozzie subplots. They're just cringe-worthy.
