That was my first thought too.

Spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't seen it. Stop here if you care.

I also really appreciate that it wasn't a big happy ending where they succeeded in changing his life. Because it's just not that simple. And I like the speech about how happy moments are important even when they don't solve everything.

Exactly. It was realistic. But at the same time, for me personally as someone with depression and very low self esteem, watching Vincent get to see that in the future he's actually appreciated was really cathartic.

Oh yes I definitely agree with that. I've gone back and watched just that scene many times. But it's one of those good moments that are important even if they don't ultimately solve everything.
