Re: Things that are annoying you right now
(Anonymous) 2015-10-02 03:27 am (UTC)(link)No. Not true. At all.
Nor is your belief that the gun control advocates are using this situation for "political gain". Any of the reactions here are based out of our horror and sadness at seeing this on the news AGAIN. We are feeling deep sadness for those who died. That's why we're trying to press for some sort of change. Jesus, it's only been a few months since Charleston. We shouldn't be seeing this sort of thing in the news yet again just a few short months later.
And if we can't talk about gun control after a massacre, when exactly can we discuss it? When is a good time to talk about it without it being seen as a "political tactic"? Because all that's going to happen if we don't talk about it now is that tomorrow we'll go back to babbling on about Trump or other fluff issues of no importance, and then this issue will be completely ignored...until the next mass shooting happens.
So yeah, I'd say now's about as good a time as any to bring this topic up.
