Mwahahahaha! The final book in the Imperial Radch series arrived at my bookstore today, a whole four days before it's official release date, and they let me buy it! Bwahahaha!

This is why I shop local.

Tell me more. An imperial radish sounds dope.

I would pay good money to read about an imperial radish. But this is the Imperial Radch. It's a science-fiction series that centers around a soldier named Breq who used to be part of a collective conscience that was made up of a space ship and her crew.

It's the kind of book that makes Sad Puppies weep. It's amazing and I love it.

Butt-hurt, whiny little brats boo-hooing because OMG women and brown people exist and created a thing other people like! are not who I want to ally with. I dislike whiny little brats, I'm disdainful of people who are afraid of who and what is different from themselves, and Ann Leckie wrote a damn fine series that deserved every award it got.

The whole 'boo-hoo I didn't get an award' behavior is what happens when you give every kid a trophy whether they earned it or not. Regardless of the SP's personal fears about diversity, their behavior is exactly like that of every other group who feels they are entitled to something they have not earned.

Well hell, I just figured since you vote for them you'd probably also agree with then about science fiction.

I don't vote for whiny people complaining about how they didn't get what they think they are entitled to. Or, more accurately, I don't vote for politicians who garner votes by telling people they are helpless and will never improve their situation without the noble, brave politician voting to give them more government freebies paid for by other people. You're thinking of Democrats.

Ahhhhhh bullshit. Hell both parties in this country do that. Just with different rhetoric and audiences.

You're probably right. Let's get some beer and put two politicians in a ring and watch them slap-fight one another. We can call it an election debate!
