Post Con Illness: dos and dont's?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Last weekend was spent at a five day workshop/festival/master class thing in London and I think that I did all the "don't"s in the week leading up to it and during, not to mention after. Working overtime, stressing out about getting stuff done on time. Then having a tight schedule for the event and way too late nights. Also spent the last night at the airport so sleep was scarce. Then going straight to work as soon as I got back into the country.

Now I'm curled up under double duvets, trying to sweat it out so that I can scrape myself toghether for working on monday.

What do you do to escape this crap, F!S? Or how do you make it go away faster? ( I know that resting would be the place to start, but I can't afford to stay home on account of deadlines and no others knowing to do my job.)

Fluids, fluids, fluids. Rest as much a you can this weekend. Take aspirin (or Tylenol) if you're fevered, do your best to eat, but not greasy, heavy junk. Try to get some soups into you, a glass or two of good juice.

Keep warm, zone on some friendly TV/movie/whatever and keep that water (or ginger ale or whatever) handy. DO NOT attempt to do all the things you didn't do before you left.

You can also do some hard-core citrus or those Halls 'defense' lozenges that have a lot of Vitamin C and whatnot.

Be well, anon!

I've stocked up on ibuprofen and paracetamol, also drinking lots of honeyed tea for my throat. Haven't eaten more than a couple packs of noodles yet, today.

Can't heed the advice of not doing the things, though. I'm solo on my station, there are two production steps more after mine and the order ships on wednesday.

Thank you.

Get as much rest and sleep as possible. Pretty much seconding tabaqui here.

I'm flat out on the bed with purring furballs next to me, so that one I can do.

Thank you.

Adding to the chime of fluids, lots of them. Tea or sports drinks are my go to (I love gatorade for a sore throat after drinking tea in the morning)

Rest, settle in with a good movie while in bed. That's what I'm doing today since it's miserably cold and rainy outside here.

Feel better!!

Will do this. Just remembered I've got some Resorb in a cabinet.

Enjoy your movie, and thank you. :)

Depends on what your symptoms are, really. Taking vitamin C can cause cold symptoms to have a shorter duration. Nutrient dense broths are also a pretty good bet for when you have something that's killing your appetite.

Lots of sleep and minimal exertion are also musts. I would also recommend taking something to help with symptoms and let you sleep more easily.

I have the regular cold symptoms; snotty nose, coughing, sore throat and fever. Also so very tired.

Don't have much in the way of vitamin C, but I do have noodles.

Thank you.

Get as much rest as you can, plenty of fluids and don't forget to eat. You may not feel like it, but stock up on some canned soups or cup o' noodles or something, it's better than nothing.

Noodles are a life saver, absolutely.
Thank you.

Water, sleep, food. Shower as needed.

Seems I've got the same idea as most people here.
