The guy was almost killed. That goes beyond "fee-fees".

Yeaah as much as I think Snape did some messed up shit , we can't condemn him while downplaying what Sirius dd. That's hypocritical, yo.

and potentially ruining remus's life means nothing. do you think if sirius went to trial no one would question exactly why he was being prosecuted? do you think remus would have been able to stay at hogwarts if sirius was punished went on trial? but what do i expect, in the snapedom severus is the only character that matters.

Didn't say that. Plenty of things Sirius could have done to make it up.

Oh my God, calm the fuck down. All they did was point out that Sirius DID almost get Snape killed. You can't downplay/misrepresent something in your argument and throw a hissy fit when people correct you.

If you state or imply something false, people are going to correct you.

Well maybe that is just one more thing Sirius ought to have considered before trying to use his friend as a murder weapon? We don't let real life criminals off because their arrest would hurt their friends, we just role that damage into a victim impact statement and the judge takes that particular part of depraved behaviour into account when sentencing.

the books aren't real life, though. in the world of harry potter, justice for snape (fans) meant that remus would have been thrown in azkaban right along with sirius, or even been executed. but hey, gotta protect snape's ego.

So what, according to you getting someone killed is A-OK when it's someone you don't like?

I don't think putting Sirius on trial is the answer but he should have gotten a harsher punishment.

Also would you quit making it all about protecting Snape. Sirius did a shitty thing, he nearly killed someone and exploited someone else to do it. Not everyone who thinks he should get a harsher punishment is just about protecting Snape's ego.

You don't get to get away with attempted murder because the person you almost killed is a dick.

a dick and future murderer. for all the whining about sirius getting away with it, people seem to forget that dumbledore gave snape the same non-punishment for being a fucking terrorist.

I don't think anyone here is saying that Snape is blameless. What they're saying is that regardless of what Snape was and would become, Sirius is STILL responsible for almost killing someone.

In fact multiple people have offered solutions that don't involve selling out Remus.

And yet you're the only one still whining about people trying to protect Snape.

Probably because Snape willingly turned over to Dumbledore at great personal risk to his own life.

Another point? When that happened, they were teenagers at school. Snape hadn't done *anything* at that point. I dont think even the 'mudblood' scene had happened, though it's been years and I could be remembering it wrong. Whatever he would do, Dumbledore had no way of knowing it at the time.

AT THAT TIME, it was simply Sirius upping the ante on constant, 4-on-1 bullying by adding life-threatening danger at the bargain price of making his friend a party to manslaughter.

What this does prove is that teachers in Hogwarts are just as shit at stopping bullying as some real-life ones, and THAT, more than Snape being the victim, is why it's such a hot button. Because many of us have been there, and what the Mauraders got away with was disgusting.

I don't remember him ever being explicitly stated as being in a gang, but I will admit I only read the last two books once each. However, we actually *see* the incident after OWLS, where the Mauraders deliberately go pick on someone reading quietly by himself with the intent to humiliate him publicly. And yes, that was 4-on-1. Both the reactions in the memory and the later discussion make it obvious that this wasn't a one off.

Did he fight back? Yes. That's also made clear. However, our only canonical incident, which was later confirmed by the other side to have been typical, is an unprovoked, boredom fueled attack by the mauraders against Snape.

Does this excuse Shape's later actions? Hell no! Death got him out of being held accountable for a bunch of terrible things. But that still doesn't negate the mauraders' crimes, and they should also have been held accountable.

What I'm saying is simply that the mauraders should have been held accountable for their actions. And if Snape was in a gang? Then him, his gang, AND THE MAURADERS, should all have been held accountable.

Your point is coming across as 'Sirius did nothing wrong because Snape was a horrible person anyway who later on did worse.' That's not justice. That's favouritism and, if enforced, petty tyranny.

Snape wouldn't have been killed, just as Lupin wasn't killed. Snape would've been bitten--and then turned into a werewolf.

Again...

There are numerous ways Sirius could have atoned without Lupin being exposed or punishment. Even a "Sorry I almost got you mauled to death" card would have been a start.

How about Sirius almost got Snape killed by the Whomping Willow as a cover story? Or that he almost got him killed via a random magical creature.
