A more relevant analogy would be like someone who joins the Tea Party because they're a fiscal conservative and claims that pesky racism and bigotry is just one of the necessary evils.

Dude I think antivax is dangerous bullshit but in no sane world is it as bad as racism and bigotry.

But the analogy wasn't to suggest that X is equally dangerous to Y. It's making the point that the Tea Party, like the Holistic Moms Network, is an organization with voluntary membership and some controversial viewpoints. Joining either organization and claiming that you HAVE to do it if you want to meet like-minded people who believe in [innocuous viewpoint] but just HAPPEN to get lumped in the same group as people who believe in [controversial viewpoint] is a specious argument.
