Agreed. Like I said, it's that kind of black and white thinking which keeps me the hell away from the HP fandom, regardless of how much I like the books. Because I can acknowledge that even though Snape had that tragic love for Lily-thing going on, he was still a terrible teacher, and not just a fluffy woobie. Like I said in a previous comment, you have to be a nasty person to use sectumsempre against someone and probably an even nastier person to have invented it. That's one of the things you like about JK Rowling's fiction: with a few exceptions, both good and bad characters have nuance to them.

Y'know when he first used it, Harry had no idea what said spell was and was justifiably horrified when he saw the effect it had on Draco. So, sorry, but your attempt at equivalence failed.

I wish more people would remember this. Harry has plenty of faults, but being EEEVUUUUUL isn't one of them.
