The two can coexist in one person. You can be a very private person in the sense of not telling personal details, not liking to get real with people, keeping things to yourself, while still enjoying the experience of being at the center of attention.

Those really aren't mutually exclusive. Not telling private stuff is different from wanting attention.

Imagine being at a party and there's a person who is telling jokes and performing stunts, but deflects every time you ask them their age/job/sexual orientation/relationship status/etc.. That's why it lists both.

Probably, but it's true for me and I'm an only child...

I specified a specific circumstance that was a little over the top, but still common, to make a point that the anon I was replying to has probably met someone like this before. It wasn't really meant to be taken as 'only at this extreme'. "Totally impersonal" wasn't the effect I was going for. I more meant just... private. Not shutting people down or sharing nothing, but being selective and somewhat evasive over what information is being shared. That's pretty common, in my experience.

someone who is both at once i would think is fairly rare. it's usually fully one or the other. i would think wanting everyone to pay attention to them is something most evasive people would actually dislike

? It's not common, but I wouldn't classify it as rare. Not in my experience. These are the people that everyone knows, but no one knows anything about. Again, the example I gave was specific enough to possibly be rare, but as far as just people who have these traits? I don't think it's as uncommon as you're suggesting.

There could be a lot of reasons for that, including just separate perceptions between us.

I'm the oldest child and the COMPLETE FUCKING OPPOSITE of the list of traits they give for oldests.
