Yeah, plus it ignores many things that are now a huge part of one culture came to by because of the interaction between two cultures.

For example, a lot of traditional Asian and European food came to be because merchants and missionaries would bring their own food to those countries and then the locals would adapt it to their liking, and vice versa. It's sad to thing that things like Italian pasta or Japanese Tempura wouldn't exist if back then people had followed these people's astringent rules about 'cultural appropriation'.

A very good documentary is The Search for General Tso, about how Chinese food adapted and changed to fit middle america. A lot of the Chinese food we have is more American Chinese and not stuff you'd actually find in China.
