Because saying you can be healthy at every size IS bullshit.

You can be overweight and healthy.

In fact, at older ages, I've read some studies that suggest a bit of extra weight is actually BENEFICIAL because it gives your body a reserve to draw on.

But extremes are bad. In either direction.

There is a point where you are, quite simply, too skinny to be healthy and this point exists for everyone though it varies among individuals.

The same is true for obesity.

Some people can carry extra weight and be healthy whereas others cannot. But, at a certain point, EVERYONE will reach a point where they are unhealthily overweight.

Extremes are bad. Too little vitamin A will kill you but so will too much.

That's why the idea of HAES is bullshit.

It should be "Healthy at MANY sizes" -- Many, but not all, sizes are and can be healthy depending on the individual

Yeah and like I said, more catchphrase than literal truth. But the general principle applies.
