Today's your lucky day, my friend. Here's my list:

The Saddle Club series was my jam back in the day, and I still have all my books from back then.

That Horse Whiskey

All of Marguerite Henry's works, especially Misty of Chincoteague

The Black Stallion series

Black Beauty

The Thoroughbred series, if you're into racing (I was not, so I didn't read many of these, but they're fairly popular).

If you're looking for so-bad-it's-hilarious Mary Sues on Horseback fun, The Short Stirrup Club series is what you want.

Keeping Barney is readable, if you can get past the cringe-inducingly bad horse-keeping and handling.

National Velvet is a classic.

I've only read a couple of the Sandy Lane Stables series, but I remember them being decent enough.

My Friend Flicka

There's the High Hurdles series for the Christian horse-lover.

Also, Whitebrook Farm is a horse-lit review site that has a ton of kid/tween/teen horse book reviews that might be worth looking through. Here's the master list of their reviews. Definitely worth checking out!

ETA: Also, I read a book called To Ride the Gods' Own Stallion the other night, and enjoyed it quite a bit.

oooh, thanks :)! Thanks for the links, that's a fascinating diversity. It's good to know where to start.

And yeah, this thread really has been great. Got me really stoked for the books that get recommended.

You're welcome! Glad to help. I was that horse-obsessed girl growing up, so I would read anything that had to do with them. That's still kinda true, heh. Anyway, hope you enjoy reading them!
