I've seen people on Tumblr object to Lady Gaga wearing a sari. And of course it's not anyone from India. People in India don't care, that's just "clothes."

Do Westerners object when someone from the Middle East wears a suit and tie? Not usually.

That's why I think most whining about "appropriation" is really just trying to shame white Westerners for adopting anything from "inferior brown people." It's a politically acceptable way to try to shame white kids for not acting white and proud.
