I am terribly sorry that I don't have author names or titles for you, anon, and I can't search fast and easy on my phone, but maybe google will be your friend?

when I was a teen I re-re-re-reread two books that stayed with me to this day. One was set in the 1800s and might have been actually titled the Medicine Hat Stallion - about a type of paint horse that looks like it has a "medicine hat" and is sacred to certain tribes.

the other was about Icelandic ponies and might have been titled Cloud Horses or something similar - I know one of the Icelandic names was Skyfaxi but I don't think that was the book title.

I will try to google later when I'm not on this piece of shit
