this is surprising, because I thought the consensus was that looking for an autism cure is what's problematic. I mean, isn't this why a substantial fraction (maybe the majority?) of people with autism despise Autism Speaks and "curebies" in general?

In my experience, even on places like Tumblr there are two extreme sides and in different circles different attitudes can be popular.

I still remember seeing someone asking about what's wrong with Autism Speaks, and they mentioned their brother hates it for "the cure thing" but isn't considering that other people may need a cure.

Also as I mention other places, the attitudes I'm talking about are prevalent on some parts of reddit.
