I'm not sure what a fusion fic is, but if het isn't your thing then het isn't your thing

Fusion fic is where you take one fandom's setting and another fandom's characters and mesh the two together. For instance, putting the characters of Supernatural in the Star Wars universe.

The secret still doesn't make sense...

A variety of crossover fic where the characters of one or more franchises replace the established characters in yet another franchise. Usually written for the comedic value of the resulting Fish out of Water juxtaposition, although the odd serious/dramatic effort is seen, too.
In recent years, the term has also started to be applied to crossover fics where the metaphysics and backstories of the universes have been fused so they have always existed as part of the same setting.

I don't think I hate het. I probably even kind of shipped the two characters when the canon was still coming out.

But seeing her with him suddenly was not as interesting as all the rewriting of canon to give him a new backstory. I didn't care enough to continue.

And knowing the canon versions of the characters, it didn't feel in character for them. I think they didn't really ever get together in canon, surprisingly; so it feels weird when fic puts them together!

I don't know, it makes sense in context, maybe.

...Was it the HP/SGA fusion fic where Sheppard used to be Harry Potter? Because that was linked here recently, and I gave it a try but stopped reading after Teyla and John out of the blue (imo) started making out.
