There's a chihuahua in my neighborhood who occasionally barks at me from the safety of her porch if I walk by while she's outside with her wheelchair-bound person. Today she decided that my presence could be borne no longer and broke away from said person to chase me down. She ran the length of the yard, got under the fence, came barreling out to the edge of the street... and stopped completely, like she had no idea what to do next. It was an instant flip of the switch from 'guard dog' to 'bewildered and docile.' I talked to her for a second and then she quite calmly allowed me to pick her up and carry her back up the driveway to her person.
