I know the venue they booked is good, I've been there for several other events.

My other problem is they announced the reunion and stated it would cost $56 for dinner and open bar. Then they said, nope $60 so we could decorations. Apparently they forgot about tax and gratuity so it'll be $75 a person. So I'm debating what to do, because oh yes, it's cocktail attire, so that means I'd have to get a new dress too.

For me, personally, even $20 is way too much to pay to spend an evening with an 80% chance of hating most of the people in the room. I kept in touch with just about everyone from high school that I actually cared for.

They also planned it for Thanksgiving weekend, so I know that most of the venues are more expensive then.

... Your story is just making me wince more and more. If they're being that foolish, both with the timing and the pricing, it may be more headache than it's worth.

Could you maybe borrow an outfit?

I have an outfit that I could possibly wear, but it's definitely the hassle of dressing up.

The pricing is what really got me. I thought $56 was a great deal for this place with dinner and open bar. Well it was obviously too good to be true. $75 isn't terrible.

I just wanted to gauge how other people saw their reunions, if I thought I'd be missing out on something. From the sounds of it, probably not.
