I saw the movie first, a long time ago. I tried reading the first book one time (I think I borrowed it out of a library), didn't get through it but absorbed enough of it to know the movie did some weird crap.

Loved the "Children of Dune" miniseries though (haven't seen the first one) which prompted me to start buying the books.
