My former best friend who I found out was failing at doing her level best to justify the backwards, restrictive, Handmaid's Tale style shitshow that is her chosen personal life. You know, the sort of person who claims to have it all, but she got there by crapping all over other people, turning her back on her own family, and then having to grin and eat it when it all falls apart to make sure nobody knows?

It's delicious. It's arguably not right, but it's delicious.

The person who I realized was my *actual* best friend I finally spotted on Facebook a few months ago, and she's doing great. I don't feel any need to bother her, but she seemed genuinely happy. Good enough for me.

My second ex, who was an asshole to me, dropped me without a word after we'd only been dating a short time and after we had an argument about religion. He's a zealous Catholic and I'm a not-Catholic (Christian, for context, but non-denominational and very much leaning towards liberal schools of thought like Quakerism) and there were some words about children and religion and how we'd structure a family and how we'd raise kids wrt religion and basically he was just very intense about the whole thing and determined that any kid he'd have would be baptized as an infant and raised Catholic, and also, he said if he married and was widowed he'd never remarry and he'd expect his wife to make the same commitment. I'd have broken up with him properly if he'd given me the chance tbh - I knew after that conversation that it would never work out.

Anyway, to cut to the chase, a mere month or so after we broke up, I glanced at his Facebook page and he was dating someone who ID'd as atheist. (This was when Facebook still showed your religion if you entered it on your profile.) They were later engaged. I was boggled both at the tiny time period (he'd been all "I think I'm ~falling in love~" to me) and the religious discrepancy. I never would have thought he'd want to date someone who wasn't religious at all, and even moreso, that anyone non-religious would want to date him.
