Maybe this was just my high school but it never looked anywhere near as exciting in real life as it does in movies. My HS held cheerleader tryouts where the girls were graded into several tiers. The prettiest ones cheered for varsity football and the not so pretty ones cheered for hockey. God, that sounds even worse just typing it out.

Before big game days, each cheerleader was sort of assigned to a specific player and was in charge of decorating his locker, baking him cookies and giving him presents. It was super fucked up.

Seriously. I thought it was a bit weird at the time but the whole fucked up nature of it didn't really hit me until much later. Mostly I was envious that someone else had homemade brownies and I didn't.
