I can understand the sentiment behind it, but with regards to having favourited both "crappy" and "good" fanfics, I'd like to say one thing. I'm a Literature major, which has ruined a lot of fanfics for me, basically those many people would consider "crappy". Yet I want to give all writers chance of those who write about pairings and themes I like very much. So I might favourite a fanfic even if I think it's poorly written, when some kind of "spark" shows through.
So basically what I'm trying to say is, that not all people who favourite poorly written fanfic have a "bad taste" or are ignorant about the quality of qhat they're reading. It can be a choice based on other factors, as well!
