Pop songs

Got favorite pop songs (guiltily or not)? Lately I have not been able to stop listening to "You Lift Me Up" by Mikey Wax and "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten.

You Lift Me Up is really quite catchy and fun. Fight Song is just very pedestrian and I wish I didn't like it as much as I did. But I guess it's not bad as a follow-up to Roar and Brave in the slate of pedestrian pop songs I'm stuck on.

The Disney Descendants soundtrack, specifically "Good is the New Bad" and "Rotten to the Core", though only Sofia Carson's version and not that ...... weird..... movie version.

I can't wait for the sequel to be honest.

That movie was the cutest thing ever (and I wanted Jay/Carlos to happen even if I knew it wouldn't).

The whole Equestria Girls Friendship Games album. I've been listening to it since a week before the movie premiered.

Also looking forward to Demi Lovato's "Confident" album.

Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon is such a catchy song for me and I've been listening to it nonstop.

Shut Up and Dance is the best

It is the best song, and it's made even better for me by my headcanon that it's about Chuck and Sarah's first date, and all the 'don't you dare look back, just keep your eyes on me' is so Chuck doesn't notice the international assassins creeping in on them.

I just wandered across Take A Hint by Victorious, and I'm kinda addicted. No idea if it's new or not, just new to me.

I've been listening to Taylor Swift's Red and Speak Now albums a lot lately. It feels a little weird to admit, because I like to think I generally have more sophisticated taste in music, but whatever. I'm surprised to say I think her songs are pretty good. Maybe a bit picturesque, and they retread a lot of the same stuff over and over again, but they're still well-penned and enjoyable, and damn does she ever have a talent for hooks.

Favorites include, off of Red: All Too Well, Come Back Be Here, I Almost Do, Treacherous

And off of Speak Now: Haunted, Innocent, Dear John, Last Kiss

There are a few pop songs I really like right now (Fall Out Boy stuff, Maroon 5 stuff, Exes and Oh's, some others) but I'm going to start to hate them all because my co-worker plays the Super Ultra Pop Station and everything plays like five times a day

of course, I also hate a lot of it, so basically it's a lose-lose

I've been turning off the radio when she's not here and playing stuff I like from YouTube (sadly, the radio is a dinosaur and I don't think it even gets any other stations...)

Ironically, I don't like Roar very much. Brave is good though.

How is that ironic?

was referring to dancing_clown being a fan of it. It was pretty popular, but I think it's mediocre. (Not intended to attack anyone who does like it, of course!)

All Fall Out Boy songs fall into one of two categories for me: "Ugh, I do not like this song at all," or "I AM GOING TO BLAST THIS AT FULL VOLUME NONSTOP FOR THE NEXT WEEK, SINGING ALONG THE ENTIRE TIME DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEIR SONGS ARE IN A BAD RANGE FOR ME TO TRY AND SING LOUDLY." "Uma Thurman" is very solidly in category 2.

Uma Thurman is so good!

I'm glad the radio at work is playing a different station today (I think my pop-loving co-worker was being disingenuous about it only getting the pop station) because that song is one of the ones that has been playing five times a day and while I haven't hit that point yet I'm genuinely afraid I'm going to start to hate it if I keep hearing it at that frequency.
