Yeah, I can see why that would make you mad. Especially since you can't do ANYTHING about it.

AYRT

It really made me feel for the parents. These people already feel scared and bad enough. They really don't need to hear this shit.

Fear mongering is the worst response to an autism diagnosis, IMO. It lead people to assume the worst and assume their kid will never be able to have a good life, and in some cases makes the parents sorta give up on the idea that their kid may be able to deal with it.

Also they way he kept emphasizing the women's responsibility for passing autism, I kinda got the idea the dude had a serious problem with women.

(also he was wrong that it's always the mother's fault. The only other autistic relatives I have? On my DAD'S side of the family)

Yup! My niece has autism and when she was like 4, one of her teachers said she would never be able to read or learn math or learn to socialize. Boy has she surpassed everything that teacher said.

Thanks. The county she lives in now has a lot of organizations and such for her to work with. She places baseball, is a cheerleader, AND won Miss Preteen in the county pageant. :D

I tend to think this anytime I see some guy going on a big old rant about women online. I'm always half tempted to say something along the lines of, "Still not over that girl rejecting you, I see."

Heh

Well in this specific case I think it's less being rejected and more someone wanting to blame someone for their misfortune. The mother apparently has high functioning/Asperger's Syndrome and dared to have kids.

Seems like someone who heard a diagnosis and just gave up or started blaming all their flaws and failures on their condition.

Seems like someone who needs to be told "your Asperger's isn't responsible for your problems, dude. you are." I know plenty of dudes with Asperger's who have decent jobs, and are friendly and happy people.

Yeah, he needs to get over that shit. I have aspergers, and ngl, I went through some resentful shit when I figured it out. Being adopted and having only the info that my birth mother did drugs and alcohol in her first trimester, I got very depressed and angry about it and blamed her for all the trouble I've had in life.

But I got over it. What good was being angry going to do? I don't even know what her choices were or if/why she stopped (it could have been an unknown pregnancy, my aspergers was more than likely hereditary anyway, and knowing my own mental state, I can hardly blame /her/ for not making the best choices).

Hearing about this is upsetting, though. No amount of me understanding where he's coming from makes me sympathize with him though. That shit is fucking selfish. :|

Yeah. Also his constant insistence that Asperger's is the worst thing ever was stupid

What annoyed me was how often he kept snapping at and stomping down people with different experiences.

Honestly I just really hate the whole Autism Speaks narrative of "Autism is terrible. Let's try to prevent autistic people from living and justifying it with how much paaaaaaain they must be in".

Also the dude was talking about things like sterilization. That's just NO.
