Are you the OP? Because I don't mind it. Elaminator doesn't mind it. OP hasn't showed up to say they mind it. So what's the big deal?

Just because anon is willing to thread-jack when they feel like it's their best option, doesn't mean they just love doing it. It means they evaluated their other options and those options seemed uncomfortable or unlikely to be fruitful. So they thread-jacked a little, explained themselves, and apologized. Seems fine to me.

I am the OP.

The thing about tread hijacking is that you really, really don't have to do it. Really. Where's the pressing need? It's not like you're elbowing your way in front of a stranger at the subway because you're late for work... which would still be a dick move, by the way. When you hijack a thread, it's a tacit acknowledgement that while you have other options that don't require you to be a jerk, you're going to choose the one that does. Pretending like this is the best option open to you is highly disingenuous.

Perhaps you can explain how posting a self-promotion thread in the General Comments is more "uncomfortable" than hijacking someone else's thread to talk about your own unrelated fanfic? I don't see "unlikely to be fruitful" as a very good excuse. It's likely to be more fruitful for me to take my neighbor's newspaper than pay for my own, but that's not a good reason for me to do it. Even if I apologize and say "Oh, well, you see I really hated to steal your paper like that, but I really had to read the sports section."

What they seemed to say was that they had recently posted a personal thread and would feel uncomfortable doing it again in such short order. Maybe that feeling doesn't make sense to you. Maybe you're not the sort of person who feels obligated to minimize the amount of public time and space you take up. Good for you, that much be really nice! But it seems like anon does feel that obligation. Would I have done the same? I don't know. I just know they kept their intrusion on your thread brief, and they apologetically explained why they were there. It's really not a big deal, and your level of annoyance seems remarkably out of proportion.
