I...I feel like you're from an alternate dimension or something. Shallow is, in my experience, an incredibly gendered term, used almost exclusively about women. It basically goes right along with ditzy and vapid.

If it weren't a word that feels almost inherently gendered, I would feel a lot better about using it, but it's constantly being used to describe women's interests, women's opinions, women's behavior, etc.
