Just curious what caused the influx. Was there a reboot or did people re-discover the source material?

If it was a reboot, maybe it wasn't that good/unduly influenced people's terrible characterization? Just a thought.

People re-discovered the source material because of one of the actors. Which is cool, because I want people to squee over the things I love, but also leads me to think they're writing [actor in their other role] rather than [character].
