Re: Poor Adaption but a Good Movie

The Golden Compass is such a sore point with me, because I really wanted to love that movie, and it just came up short in so many ways. :( It's especially heartbreaking because Nicole Kidman was the perfect Mrs. Coulter for me, and the girl playing Lyra was surprisingly great at what she was doing (I don't normally care for child actors much). But the pacing, the cuts, the changes in general...ugh. Not to mention the genuinely terrible score, which surprised me.
