Re: Oddest or Strangest Movie You've Seen Recently?

At first I didn't see 'recently' and my mind jumped to "Gerry". Caught that film on tv years and years ago and I have to say that I've never been so bored. I don't remember all that much about it but what I do remember can be summed up as 'if that Uncharted 3 desert segment had went on for almost an hour and thirty minutes'. (Just to be clear, I actually liked the Uncharted segment...but I wouldn't have had it went on for 20+ minutes.)

Recently, probably "En kort en lang" with Mads Mikkelsen. It's a 'romantic comedy' where the main character (Mads) repeatedly cheats on his soon to be husband with his husbands sister-in-law. He also gets her pregnant, and about ten minutes from the end of the film Mad's character runs off to 'get his man' and said man takes him back even though he's done absolutely nothing to deserve it and has barely even apologized. It's fucked up and the film doesn't even try to make either characters (Mads or the sister-in-law) the slightest bit sympathetic. While this might be realistic, this is also not the slightest bit romantic or comedic, and whoever decided to make this film shouldn't have.

Oh, man, that's ugly. "You wanted a gay rom-com, you take what you can get, pervs!"

I honestly can't tell what the writers and directors were thinking, or if they were thinking at all. Everything about the film is a mess and I found the very idea of Mads' character being forgiven by his fiance abhorrent. (Mads himself was very...convincing, and he tried to make the character likable, but given the script there was no way that was happening. Hannibal is much more charming and likable than that guy and that guy didn't kill or eat people.)

A better film would have focused more on how Mads' character was confused about his sexuality (lol, I think he was, anyway; this is how much this film sucks, I'm not even fully sure if the character was supposed to be gay or bi at the start of the film) but the entire thing felt so cavalier and cheap and I just hated it. Don't watch this film, no matter how cute the gifs of Mads kissing his fiance look; it will make you rage.
