I kind of want this too, considering the last three regenerations were pretty dramatic, even if Nine to Ten didn't have quite as much build up as the following two.

As others have said, it has happened after a fashion, but at the beginning of an episode rather than the end. Seven up and gets shot without warning while stepping out of the TARDIS and Six... did he bump his head? I think that's what happened.

Now that I think about it, wasn't Two's regeneration into Three suddenly forced upon him by the Time Lords at the end of an episode? I don't remember if we even see it. I also don't recall Three to Four being over dramatic, eithet. It's been a while though.

I've not seen Two to Three for years but I seem to remember he's pleading for them not to do it after dismissing their choices for his new face? In my head it seems pretty sudden...and mean!

Three wanders for a while before he succumbs to being poisoned but they don't really make a big deal of the length of time passed iirc.
