I know it varies on how many you get, but what's your posting days for secrets with the fandom labeled?

Labeling is up to the secret poster. If it's after the fact, well... that's why this is called the name the fandom thread.

I mean what days of the week are they posted. Say if there's two days worth of labeled secrets versus one day what day they'll be posted.

I doubt he divides them up that way.

It's mostly random, I don't really plan for it!

Yes, replying JUST to reply to someone when asked not to, with no further content other than replying to annoy them, counts as trolling.

I think it might be past time to restrict his posting privileges. Maybe not even permanently, but just give him a week-long vacation in Shut Up Town. This isn't the first time he's done something like this.

To be fair to herpy, it's the first I've seen where the ONLY point was to post. Usually he has something relevant to contribute to the conversation whether people like that or not.

I don't know. He's said some seriously hurtful, harmful stuff in the past, and when called out on it he doubles down and acts like he's the victim. He needs to be taught some humility. And in all honesty, his presence here makes me increasingly uncomfortable and I know I'm not alone.

I really don't think "saying hurtful things sometimes" or "acting like a victim" are or should be bannable offenses (assuming there's no obvious streak of intentionally and repeatedly harassing others). I mean, insisting someone needs to be "taught humility" could be construed as hurtful itself.

Just keep letting me know if other threads like this occur.

The problem is its like his good contributions make him feel like he's such a good person + good poster that he somehow feels he therefore has carte blanche to say awful trolling toxic shit. It's almost two sides of the same coin.

Nah, I don't really see it like a karma game - if it came off like that, sorry! Any number of "good" comments doesn't make up for someone going around stalking and harassing people like they did to jaybie for example, or deliberately going out of their way to respond to someone who asked them not to respond (hence thread deletion).

But adding something relevant to a conversation in a manner that other people might find offensive isn't exactly the same thing as that (besides, who hasn't done that at one point?).

I didn't mean to imply that it was a karma game - I think it's more something that he does. Like, I think it's a frequent problem in strongly moderated Internet comms that you get users who troll and fuck with people but who are hard to punish because they always stay just within the letter of the law and just on the side of being reasonable. And that's kind of the sense I'm starting to get about herpy - that he's that kind of subtly toxic poster, intentionally or not. It also informs my view of situations like this in that I'm a little less likely to think that he's acting in good faith.

There's always the option of just ignoring him, which several anons complaining about him haven't been doing (in fact they've been doing the opposite talking about him and dethtoll the past few days). Most of the threads that people point to as bad usually have one or more anons egging it on (even the one today).

Just not responding would dissolve a whole lot of the problem, but I also think there are a few people who are determined to MAKE it a problem and I see more of that on anons' sides than herpy's (today's thread excluded).

I mean, that's certainly going to be my attitude going forward (similarly I didn't fuck with that stupid thread about him and dethtoll the other day). And I definitely agree that anons should stop trying to start shit. But... I mean, just from being on the Internet I have my doubts about whether that ever actually works.

I respect your decision tho.

Just for the record, this and the post you replied to are my only comments here. I generally don't have an issue with herpy, but I've had a previous vent go sour because of a comment he made and wanted to prevent to that. Didn't work out, it looks like.

Context might've helped, yeah. Thread's deleted but I can see why a "hey you, don't respond" might make someone knee-jerk react. Hopefully he reads this and realizes what you meant!

Isn't it kind of trolly behavior to randomly call out specific users and ask them not to reply? Reading that, I massively rolled my eyes and didn't really feel bad when Herpy rose to the bait. Kinda seemed like they deserved each other, tbh.

I think the request was polite enough, though the context anon gave above would helped, yeah. I said above too, I can see why herpy might've reacted that way.
