I actually have no idea if they are covered or not. I'm just stuck at home for the moment because I haven't been able to see the doctor. My insurance will only let me see a specialist with a referral from my primary care, and even though I requested the podiatrist referral a week ago they have not sent it to me.

I'm hoping that crutches will be covered or the podiatrist will tell me what the best thing to do is.

Ahhhh, I see. Ugh. How frustrating.

But yeah, I shall send good wishes and hopes and cross fingers that you can get that all sorted out very soon and figure out a solution. Good luck!

Man, sucks. I have a pair of crutches sitting in my damn closet.
*wills them to teleport to you*

I hope you reamed the doc for not getting your referral sooner, jayzus, that's just ridiculous.
*all the healing vibes*

Be well!

If your insurance won't cover crutches, you might call around to thrift shops (Goodwill or the Salvation Army will usually just give you a pair) or try local nursing homes or rehab centers. I needed a pair when I broke my ankle a couple of years ago, and when I got the ER bill, I found out that the hospital charged $150 for them. Luckily my insurance paid for them, but there was no way they cost the hospital that much.
